As part of a drive for sustainability, and to decrease the use of single use plastic for Hope Cove Weekend the Committee have purchased HCW branded clear plastic pint tumblers. These will be on sale at £1 each throughout HCW at all venues and will be the only means of purchasing a drink in those establishments, where they will be accepted. This will not only reduce the use of single use plastic, but also get rid of the need for those establishments to charge a deposit on their own plastic glasses as in previous years. They will also be a handy and reusable souvenir of Hope Cove Weekend.
There will be trained First Responders provided by Role 1 Medical on site and manning a fully equipped First Aid Post throughout Hope Cove Weekend.
Additional Car Parking will be available as usual in the field off the Outer Hope bypass by kind permission of David Rossiter. Please only use either the main car park or the additional car park to leave access for Emergency services at any time. Users of the car parks do so at their own risk and the Committee will not accept liability for any accident, damage or loss to passengers or vehicles.
HCW have been granted a road closure by DCC during the event. From 17:00 to 01:00 on Fri 24 August; From 09:30 to 01:00 on Sat 25th and Sun 26th August and from 09:00 to 16:30 on Mon 28th August the road through Hope Cove Square to the Lobster Pod Bistro will be closed after the Car Park. Businesses and holiday home owners/holiday makers have been advised of these timings by mail drop. No vehicles will be allowed to go beyond the road closure after 08:45 on any morning to ensure safety. This closure will be strictly enforced by the Organising Committee, and our Security company, and we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Everyone participating in any of the water based activities, except swimming races, is required to wear a life jacket or buoyancy aid. Anyone removing life jacket or buoyancy aids during the races shall be disqualified.
The Shippen (the grassy hill between the two beaches), the grass lawn behind the Post Office and the Fisherman’s hut are all privately owned and only authorised persons are to enter those areas. The use of the Shippen for the Firework Display is by kind permission of Tamsin Rossiter.
Hope Cove’s hospitality venues, in common with the rest of the UK, Have struggled with staffing throughout the past year. Please be patient with staff during Hope Cove Weekend, they are working on your behalf and will get round to serving you as soon as they can!
The rules for Harbour Beach are for the benefit of all users and are very simple:
All under 18s must be supervised by an appropriate adult. By entering an event you do so at your own risk. The committee will accept no responsibility for any accident, damages or loss.
Disclaimer Forms must be signed as a condition of entry for a number of events.
If you are under 18 a parent/guardian must sign on your behalf.
