The average sea temperature at this time of year is between 16°-20°. It is your decision if you would like to wear a wetsuit. We would strongly recommend the use of a tow float if you have one. The following is a useful link to a guide for Open Water Swimming

Important information
Open water swim for over 18s only.
Swimmers must be confident in the water and be able to swim the 1km distance.
Registration You must register to take part. Registration will be from 9:00 - 10:30 am at the Information Hub.
Places are limited to 75 people only. The cost for this event is £5 and you will be issued with your swim hat and number. You will be asked to sign a disclaimer
Check In
This will be at Harbour Beach from 11:00 am All swimmers to bring their hats with their number. Your number will be then written on your hand once checked in.
Check out
Upon finishing you MUST check out with the HCW volunteer, giving your number.
Safety
You must keep to the course which will be marked and explained at the pre race brief just before the event. A final decision whether the race will go ahead will be taken by the Harbour Master and HC Lifeboat.
Medal presentation
The presentation of medals will be back on Harbour Beach straight after the race.
