Race 90 minute pursuit race with handicap start as per Plymouth Yardstick ratings. The course will be laid the morning of the race with competitors informed of the course once on the water by the race boat. It is likely to be a start in the outer harbour, first leg up towards bolt tail, second leg towards Burgh Island/Thurlestone, third leg around the starting buoy. The winner will be the leading boat on the course 90 minutes after the first boat started.
Entry fee: £5
Life jackets or Buoyancy Aids must be worn
Logistics The race will commence at 1000 on Monday 29th August (high tide approx 0815). Register with John Tiner on the Outer Hope slipway by no later than 0915. You will be required to sign a declaration of responsibility including confirmation of your public liability insurance. Please ensure you are on the water by no later than 0950 ready to receive course instructions and your starting time . At the end of the race the race boat will inform the 1st, 2nd and 3rd boats of their standing. Prize giving will be at the top of the Outer Hope slipway once all the boats have returned to the beach.

Important information
Open to over 18 only, a 0.7-1k open water swim from Harbour Beach to Mouthwell Beach. Swimmers must be confident in the water and be able to swim that distance. RegistrationYou must register to take part. Registration will be during Saturday at the caravan. Registration will close at 2pm. Places are limited to 50 people only. The cost for this event is £5 and you will be issued with your swim hat and number. You will be asked to sign a disclaimer
Check In This will be at Harbour Beach at 2.30. All swimmers to bring their hats with their number. Your number will be then written on your hand once checked in Check out Upon finishing at Mouthwell, you MUST check out with the HCW volunteer, giving your number. Safety You must keep to the course which will be marked and explained at the pre race brief just before the event. A final decision whether the race will go ahead will be taken by the Harbour Master and HC Lifeboat. Medal presentation The presentation of medals will be back on Harbour Beach just before the Fancy Dress competition

Notes The average sea temperature at this time of year is between 16°-20°. It is your decision if you would like to wear a wetsuit. We would strongly recommend the use of a tow float if you have one.
